Identifying what students know, understand, can do and feel at different stages in the classroom requires careful gathering and analysis of information about student performance. This session offers opportunities to explore the latest developments in formative assessment. The session is designed to deepen participants' understanding of how high-impact formative assessments can be woven into a unit.
The workshop will use a variety of techniques including formal presentation, small group discussion, and a variety of activities that model the use of effective assessment in the classroom.
- Distinguish and explain the difference between formative and summative assessment
- Construct and infer meanings from key findings on impact of formative assessment on student achievement
- Plan and design a formative assessment based on a framework proposed by Dylan Wiliam
